ABSTRACT
Concept of learning has been undergoing major changes in information age and it is considered in the dimension of lifelong learning. The assessment approaches and procedures are redefined and new assessment approaches are needed. As an alternative assessment, portfolio is becoming increasingly employed as a tool for learning and assessment. This article presents general over-view of portfolio, its definition, theoretical background, advantages and disadvantages (strengths and weaknesses), its content, development procedures and assessment.
