ABSTRACT
Aim:
In this study, the comparison of life quality of the children with and without chronic disease between the ages eight-eighteen in Çankırı was aimed.
Material and Method:
In this study 308 children and parents are included (154 healthy and 154 patient). Data were gathered by using the “General Information Form” and “Life Quality Scale for Children-Child-Adolescent, and Parent Form”. T test and Mann-Whitney-U test were used in analyz-ing the information.
Results:
Physical Health mean scores of healthy children and adolescents were meaningful higher than the mean scores of the children and adolescents with a chronic disease (p<0,05). Also, Psycho-social Health subtest mean scores of healthy children and adolescents were meaningful higher than the mean scores of children and adolescents with a chronic disease. When the data were evaluated according to the parent view; the mean scores of healthy and adolescents in Physical Health subtest were higher than the mean scores of children and adolescents with a chronic disease. Psychosocial Health mean scores of healthy children and adolescents were found to be higher than the mean scores of children and adolescents with a chronic disease (p>0,05).
Conclusion:
It was found that the life qualities which were evaluated according to the parent views of children and adolescents, life qualities were higher in the healthy group than the children and adolescents with a chronic disease. It is recommended that the comprehension of the importance of life quality must be worked on seriously.
