ABSTRACT
Burkholderia cepacia is an infection agent which is rare encountered in intensive care unit but be-cause of its multi-drug resistance, it may causes fatal infection. Broncho-alveolar lavage culture is commonly used to ascertain the infectious agents in nosocomial pneumonia cases. In this case re-port, we discussed diagnosis and treatment approaches in a patient who had bronchiectasis, right heart failure and pneumonia, in whom Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) was detected in first deep tracheal aspiration, but no agent in recurrent cultures after antibiotherapy. However Burkholderia cepacia was detected in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.
