Reversible Nephrotoxicity of Colistin: A Case Report

Both nosocomial and community acquired gram-negative bacterial infections cause serious morbidity and mortality. However, old antibiotics, which have toxic side effects, should be re-used because of the lack of newly developed antibiotics. One of these is colistin which has both nephrotoxic and neurotoxic side effects. Especially due to nephrotoxicity side effec, serious problems can be experienced in the use of colistin. In this article, a case of reversible nephrotoxicity after colistin usage is presented.
